1981 Precision Bass Cherry Sunburst

We are pleased to announce the arrival of 1981 Precision Pace in international color!
The international color was only available on American-made models in 1981, and the color used on the one we have just received is "Cherry Sunburst". The color used for this shipment is "Cherry Sunburst", a vivid burst color with orange tints.

The characteristic coloring and the burnt head of this model are eye-catching. The body is probably made of ash, the neck of maple, and the fingerboard of rosewood, according to the graininess visible through the paint.
There are no stamps or signatures on the neck to identify the year. However, a stamp of legendary neck craftsman "H. GUSTELUM," who retired in 2017, could be seen on the neck joint. The body has a sticker with the same "S887633" serial as the head. The pickup date could not be confirmed due to the sponge sticking to the pickups, but there was no evidence that the pickups had been replaced, so the pickups are judged to be original. The pot date is "1378106" on the volume side and "1378734" on the pot side, and only the tone pot has been replaced. The condenser has been replaced with what appears to be an ERO F1773, although we cannot be certain.

The neck is almost straight. The truss rod has about half a turn left in the tightening direction, but there is no problem in the loosening direction. Both are in good working order.
The fingerboard has been refretted, re-nutted, and modified, and the fingerboard R is now a gentle 9.5, but there are no playability issues. The entire body and neck have been over-lacquered in conjunction with the fingerboard modification.

The sound is characterized by a punchy response. The sound is characterized by a very punchy response, with a slightly firm but guttural low-midrange that stands out clearly.

Although it is made of 80s ash and weighs only 4.24kg, the originality is a little low, but this guitar is still in good condition for a player!
