1970 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top

The Les Paul Standard was reissued in 1968 with P-90 pickups and a Gold Top finish to meet market demand. The following year, in 1969, specifications were revised and the model name was changed, giving birth to the Les Paul Deluxe.
Equipped with its signature mini-humbucker pickups, its crisp and bright sound has been favored by many guitarists, including Pete Townshend, Scott Gorham, and Neil Schon.

This instrument features a maple top and pancake body, a three-piece mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard.
The control cavity bears a "B" stamp found only on 1969 models, suggesting it was likely manufactured between 1969 and 1970.

The headstock lacks the "i" dot and features the closed "O" Gibson logo, a truss rod cover engraved with "Deluxe," and Kluson Double Line/Double Ring "Gibson Deluxe" tuners. (The 2nd and 4th string tuners are slightly bent.)

The bound neck, made of three-piece mahogany, features original frets and a nut. Characteristic of this period are the slightly rounded dish inlays and the small volute on the back of the nut.

It is equipped with two sticker-numbered mini humbuckers and features a 2-Vol/2-Tone/3-Way Selector control layout. The pot dates—"1377040," "137704X," and "137704X"—indicate that CTS pots manufactured in 1970 are used. A Bumblebee capacitor is installed. Urethane has been added beneath the pickups for stability.

The hardware features chrome-plated components, including a wired ABR-1 bridge with the PAT No. and Gibson relief engraved on it, as well as nylon saddles and a stopbar tailpiece.
Additionally, it features gold-hat knobs with metal tops, making this a highly authentic instrument.
The finish is the highly popular "Gold Top." It is an iconic color that needs no further introduction.

As for the condition of this instrument, there is weather checking and plating wear on parts due to age, as well as scratches, dents, buckle marks, and paint chipping from use. The corner of the headstock on the G-string side was previously cracked and has been repaired due to the damage.
The frets are from an era when they were made lower, but about 60% of the original material remains, and the instrument plays smoothly without any buzzing. We have confirmed that the truss rod turns 60 degrees in both directions.
