The 5-string model of DarkRay, a collaboration between Darkglass Electronics and Musicman, is now available in the new colors announced at NAMM 2024!

DARKRAY is a model created by the collaboration between MUSICMAN and Darkglass, which was announced in 2021 and made a big splash.
It features a new 2-band EQ preamp designed by Darkglass specifically for the DarkRay.
This preamp features three modes with very distinctive and useful sounds: Clean, Alpha (distortion), and Omega (fuzz).
These circuits can be mixed with the onboard gain knob and blend control to suit the user's preference.
Stunning cleans, slight gains, and ferocious fuzz tones can be obtained without sacrificing low frequencies.
Which mode you are in is indicated by an illuminated LED ring and a 3-way lever switch.

The most important point of this new model is its coloring.
The flashy sparkling gold color varies depending on the angle you look at it, and it looks a little pinkish, which we think is unique.

Finally, DARKRAY is characterized by its sound.
Many people may wonder if the same sound can be obtained by using Alpha Omega outboard on Stingray. However, the sound is different from the on-board sound.
The difference is whether distortion is applied after a slight change in sound quality from the bass through the shield, or whether distortion is applied in a more natural state.
With the outboard, you may feel that the bass response, which is especially important on bass, is compromised, but with the DARKRAY, you don't have to worry about that.
You will clearly feel the difference when you play the bass. For those who prefer a distorted sound, this is definitely the one for you.
