1970 Gibson Byrdland Sunburst is in stock!

Serial: 614432, Pot Date: 137-6852, made in 1970.

The Byrdland, introduced in 1955, was based on the L-5, but with a thin-bodied thinline body/short scale neck, which was its most distinctive feature. This model was named after Billy Byrd and Hank Garland, who were studio musicians in Nashville, Tennessee at the time.

It uses a body shape similar to that of the L-5, the company's popular full-acoustic model. At first glance, the L-5 looks very similar to the L-5, but the body thickness is thinner, making it easier to hold. The neck scale is 597mm short scale. The slim neck shape makes the model easy to hold and play.

Two original sticker-numbered PAF pickups are mounted. 137-6852 Pot Date, XXX-68XX x 2, and the other one is hidden by solder, but I think it is all original. The condenser is also original.

The pickguard has been replaced, the rear PU escutcheon has been replaced, the saddle has been replaced (different year), and the nut and frets have been replaced. The pegs have not been modified, but there are signs that another peg was attached. There are also signs that the guitar has been over-lacquered, although the overall appearance is well worn. There are some replacement parts, but it has been played well because of the work done to the worn parts.

This Byrdland is one of the most popular hollow models in the world, and is in very original player's condition. Recommended for those who are looking for a vintage jazz guitar that can be used well.
