A 1955 Epiphone Zephyr De Luxe Electric has arrived!!

The Zephyr Deluxe debuted in 1941 and was manufactured until around 1955–56; it was one of the top-tier models among Epiphone’s archtop guitars of that era.

This is an all-maple instrument featuring a laminated maple top and flame maple sides and back. Since the name was changed to “De Luxe Electric” in 1954—at which time the top material was changed to laminated maple—this instrument was built after that date.

It is equipped with an original Epiphone New York single-coil pickup and a Frequen-Sator tailpiece.

Pot Date: 13441X, manufactured in 1954. Although one of the pots is not visible, we believe both are likely original. The center switch, frets, nut, and bridge have been replaced.

The pickguard shows deterioration and warping due to corrosion. Additionally, there are cracks and chips in the binding throughout the body, as well as areas where the finish has peeled off due to deterioration. The headstock veneer has also discolored due to deterioration. The tailpiece has been repositioned several times, resulting in additional holes. Furthermore, the current endpin hole is filled, and no endpin is installed.

Although it shows significant signs of use, playability is currently good. The truss rod is completely loose. The truss rod is not covered by the warranty.
