This is a development of the system59 installed on the previously released CPX15II series. The level of the MAIN pickup, which mainly picks up the midrange, is separated from the TREBLE and BASS sub-pickups and can be controlled independently. To avoid disturbing the sound of the wood, the conventional preamplifier panel with a large hole in the side panel has been eliminated, and the control knobs are mounted directly on the side panel. The battery case has also been moved to the bottom of the body to minimize the drilling of holes in the side panels. The control knobs can be stored inside the body and do not interfere with playing.
A.R.E. [Acoustic Resonance Enhancement].
A.R.E. [Acoustic Resonance Enhancement] is a wood modification technology researched and developed by Yamaha. By applying this technology to the body material of a guitar, a rich sound is achieved, as if the guitar has been played for many years.

A.R.E. technology uses only highly controlled water and heat to control the microscopic properties of the wood to an acoustically ideal state [= a state similar to the molecular structure of wood used for many years in instruments].

This is an environmentally friendly technology that does not use any chemicals in the process. The acoustically ideal state is achieved by the following changes.

The extension of the low frequency range is increased, resulting in a richer sound and thicker tone.

In the high frequency range, a sharper edge is achieved by increasing the rise and attenuation rate. At the same time, the grating component is suppressed.

The graph shows the actual measured acoustic spectrum of the current L series and the New L series with A.R.E. under certain conditions. It is also clear that after the attack, the annoying high-frequency component is attenuated in a shorter period of time, which is numerically supported by the change in acoustic characteristics targeted by A.R.E.

In actual performance, the A.R.E. has received high evaluations from many musicians. The evaluation is generally common to the quality of guitars that have been played for many years. In other words, we have received many evaluations such as "calm" - "matured" - "warm" - "good (box) sound" - "good (sound) graininess".
