USED Gibson / J-160E Sunburst [Vintage/1968]

Vintage 1968 J-160E

J-160E was born in 1954. At that time, it had solid top and 19 frets, but from 1955, it has plywood top and 20 frets.
This guitar was made in the period when Gibson guitars were changed drastically from around 1965, when they had the so-called "14-degree head angle and narrow neck," and it also has a "long pickguard with screws" that existed only for a short period of time from 1968 to 1969, which is very valuable.
The bridge was changed from an upper belly to a down belly around 1968, and this particular model also has a down belly.
Furthermore, in 1969, adjustable bridges were no longer used, so this is the period just before that.

Made at the Kalamazoo factory, USA.
Round shoulder body with plywood spruce Top and mahogany Side/Back, P-90 pickups, and Volume/Tone control with the knob on the Top.
The rosewood down belly bridge is equipped with rosewood adjustable saddles.
The approximately 39.5mm nut width, Gibson scale mahogany Neck has a rosewood fingerboard and binding.
The pegs are equipped with 2-cob KULUSON DELEXE engraved pegs.
The serial indicates that it was made in 1968, and the specifications suggest that it was made around 1968-69.

* At least the nut, frets, and bridge pins have been replaced, and a strap pin has been added at the heel of the neck.
* The torque of the 1st string peg is looser than the other string pegs when the strings are loosened, but this is not a problem for use.

Maintained by a well-known guitar workshop.
Volume and Tone POT cleaned, bridge peeling fixed, back bracing glued, and frets rubbed.
String grounding has been done behind the bridge.

Weather check on the body, neck, and head.
There are many dents and scratches including paint change and paint peeling due to age.
There are deep dents on the top, and touch-up marks can be seen. The bridge has been repositioned in the past.
The binding on the body and neck is uneven and has been reattached.
The truss rod still has room to spare, and there are plenty of frets left, so playability is not a problem.

The J-160E is characterized by a specification that suppresses the raw sound to prevent feedback, but it is still different when plugged into an amp!
Of course you can use it for chord work, but I dare to recommend it for solo playing with single and double-note passages!
