The 58LP of this period is a basic plain top, rather than the figured top with selected woods that was used in the past. The clean plain maple has flecks in various places, giving it a very solid appearance. Of course, the mahogany back has a solid weight feeling without weight relief, and the woodworking is also excellent, giving it a Custom Shop-like high-class feel. The back color is cherry, which is different from the current model and has a great match with the top color. Compared to the current Custombucker, the Burstbucker 1 & 2 PUs are thicker and richer sounding. The condenser is also equipped with a Bumble Bee, and the aluminum tailpiece is different from the regular line.

There are scratches, scuffs, and dents on the body. The pickguard has some light picking scratches, and although it is VOS spec, it has been polished with use and cleaning, so it does not have the cloudy VOS look of the original. There is a scratch near the rear tone knob. There is a small paint reaction with the case lining on the side of the jack plate. There is a small scratch on the right side of the body. There are some small dents on the right side of the center of the body back, and there are some scratches, scuffs, and line scratches mainly on the lower part of the body. There is a scratch on the lower right side of the back of the head. There is also a mark on the lower left side of the top of the head where the tip of a string has struck it. Each hardware has some deterioration and scratches due to use and age as well as the VOS effect, but the atmosphere of the guitar is good.

The neck condition is fine, and the truss rod can be adjusted in the direction to tighten or loosen, although there is not much left in the direction to tighten. There are no noticeable string marks on the frets, and there is about 70% remaining. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 12F 6th string side and about 1.5mm on the 1st string side.

There are natural signs of age and use, but there are no noticeable signs of use, and the guitar is in good condition for its age. The tip of the truss rod is sticking out from the nut, but this is an individual that starts to work after the tip comes out. This condition was common in those days. It is better to keep it tuned down when storing it. Unlike the current model, the sound is a little dense. It would be good to replace the pickups.
