The body shape is our flagship model, "Soltar". The body, which is the key to the sound, is 3pcs alder with figured maple with thick natural binding. The neck is maple and the fingerboard surface is rosewood. The overall finish is thin. The nut width is 41.5mm, the scale is 648mm at 22F, and the fretboard surface is 12-14" compound radius specification as measured by us. The fret size is medium. Both sides of the fingerboard edges are scalloped, giving it a high-end feel.

The neck and middle are equipped with Duncan SSL-6 PUs. A Tom Holmes H450F is installed in the bridge position. The original gold cover has been polished to a nickel look. The DC resistance is approximately 7.7k. There is no pole piece hole on the cover, but this cracked shape is Tom Holmes.

Controls are 1Vol & 1Tone specs, and pulling the tone knob adds 2 positions, "Front-Middle-Rear" and "Front-Rear". The pegs are 381 made by Gotoh. The tremolo is a Gotoh Floyd unit. There is a battery box, but it is currently not wired.

There is some paint deterioration on the top and back of the head, but it is visible in the light. Paint is peeling around the strap pin at the end of the body. There is a scratch on the tip of the head.

The neck condition is fine, and the truss rod can be adjusted to tighten or loosen. There are no string marks on the frets and about 80% of the strings are left. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 12F 6th string side and about 1.5mm on the 1st string side.

Overall, there are no significant signs of use. The production period is expected to be the early 2000s. There was a low-priced model at that time, but the serial number on the joint plate, neck heel & cutaway shape, etc. are different from the low-priced model, and we judge that it was probably made in the USA. The original model must have been equipped with EMG, which was the mainstream at that time. The battery box tells the story, and the inside of the cavity is coated with conductive paint. The selector and other electrical components were also renewed at that time. The back of the center PU, SSL-6, has a sponge, and the wiring has been spliced. The pickguard has also been replaced, and the upper right part of the Floyd unit is interfering with the pickguard, but this is not a problem. The knob also has a different shape. However, the choice of Tom Holmes made in the USA for the rear position and the 7-way switch are typical of a Varita. The neck is thin but firm, and the truss rod works well. The sound is high end with a quality tone. It can be used as it is, or you can replace the PU and enjoy it!
