The "StingRay EX" is a model with the same parts and specifications as the USA version, but made in Japan to cut costs.
The StingRay EX is not just a low-cost version, but is very different from the US version in its tight sound and playing comfort, which is typical of Japanese-made guitars.
The StingRay EX has the same sound as the US version.
The combination of Musicman's original humbuckers and a preamp with 3-band EQ allows for a high degree of freedom in sound creation.
