Based on the Attitude Limited II, this third-generation ATTITUDE LIMITED incorporates new technologies such as the "spline joint" adopted in the new BB series.
The rear pickup features a DiMarzio Billy Sheehan Signature "Will Power" pickup, while the woofer pickup features an original DiMarzio pickup designed by Yamaha in collaboration with Billy.
Utilizing A.R.E. wood treatment technology, combined with the spline joint structure and the I.R.A. treatment effects described below, the body achieves the best tone Billy has ever approved of

・Features custom DiMarzio pickups
As with previous models, the rear pickup continues to use the DiMarzio Billy Sheehan Signature "Will Power" pickup. However, the woofer pickup—the defining feature of the Billy model—features an original DiMarzio pickup designed by Yamaha and co-developed with Billy specifically for this model.
This new pickup, refined from the Yamaha-original woofer pickup featured on the BB714BS, was developed by re-examining its fundamental structure based on Billy’s advice.Featuring a humbucker-style design with blade-type pole pieces, and with meticulous attention paid to even the wire gauge and coating of the coils, it delivers ultra-low frequencies with even greater impact than before. At the same time, joint development with Billy—conducted in parallel with the new neck joint method described below—has succeeded in making the pickup itself thinner.

・BODY: Features the "spline joint method," which delivers string vibration energy accurately throughout the entire body with excellent vibration characteristics similar to a one-piece construction
As with previous models, the body is crafted from alder, known for its balanced, warm midrange, and incorporates the spline joint system used in the new BB2000 and 1000 models. Thanks to the spline connecting the center where the strings pass through and both sides, this three-piece construction—designed to withstand environmental changes—delivers excellent vibration characteristics akin to a one-piece body, accurately transmitting string vibration energy throughout the entire body.
Furthermore, by incorporating the wood treatment technology “A.R.E.”, combined with the spline joint structure and the I.R.A. treatment described below, we have achieved a body with the finest tone recognized by Billy.

・Wood Modification Technology A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. is Yamaha’s proprietary wood modification technology that alters the microscopic physical properties of the wood to mimic those of a well-worn vintage guitar by precisely controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. This treatment has been applied to the body of the ATTITUDE LIMITED3. This process achieves excellent attack and sustain.(The graph shows that low-frequency sustain is increased, the attack in the mid-to-high frequencies is more pronounced, and after the sound attacks, the harsh high-frequency components decay more quickly.) Furthermore, a key feature of this process is that it uses absolutely no chemicals, resulting in a low environmental impact. The underlying technology stems from our fundamental research, built upon decades of experience working with wood as a musical instrument material.

・I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) Treatment
This technology reduces stress between the finish, adhesives, wood, and parts by applying vibrations at the optimal frequency specific to each instrument while it is tuned, thereby making the instrument “easier to play” right from the moment it is new.

・Neck Joint
Conventional models were secured using four wood screws from the back of the body and two inside the body, all of varying lengths. Billy is a player who frequently uses “neck bends” to control pitch by bending the neck itself, so further improving joint strength was a key focus in the development of this new model.
The new neck joint, which incorporates an additional 45-degree angled screw, applies force not only vertically but also horizontally to pull the neck toward the body. This not only achieves the desired joint strength but also improves the efficiency of vibration transmission between the neck and body, resulting in a tighter sound.

・Certificate of Authenticity Signed by Billy
Included with the instrument is a certificate signed by Billy himself, certifying the final adjustments performed by skilled craftsmen at Yamaha Music Craft and the I.R.A. treatment process.
