A tribute to the trademark guitar of Clarence White, the pioneer of the string bender! A custom guitar crafted by Mike Neihen of String Pull Guitar Shop!

Since the mechanism on Clarence’s prototype bender was mounted on the back of the body, it required a surrounding enclosure. This guitar is equipped with an improved, mass-produced Parsons/White bender (long-stroke specification) recessed into the body, but a back enclosure has been intentionally added to make it visually closer to Clarence’s original guitar.

The body and neck have a darker tone, while the pickguard has a lighter tone; many of the metal parts on the body are gold-plated, giving it a slightly different look from the original. The inclusion of Keith tuners on the 1st and 6th strings, along with a mini-switch on the control plate to turn the capacitor on and off, brings the specifications closer to those from the period after it was owned by Marty Stuart. The body appears to be made of ash. The neck is crafted from bird’s-eye maple, similar to the Fender-made Clarence signature model, and anchor bolts are used for the neck joint screws.
The bridge plate is made by Fender and features a cutout to prevent the pick from hitting it. The pickup selector has four positions, allowing you to choose between parallel and series configurations when mixing. Both the front and rear pickups are Velvet Hammer products with a Clarence-inspired design. Since this is a custom-built instrument, it’s unclear whether all of these components are original, but the love for Clarence is evident in key details throughout.
Only the front of the headstock has been refinished; there are traces of over-lacquer on the edges of the body top and the sides, likely to match the color of the binding. Shallow, small dents, minor scuffs, a faint haze on the finish, tarnished plating on the metal parts, and weather checking on the body are visible. Additionally, there is a crack near one of the screw holes for the binding plate on the back. The neck joint plate shows numerous fine scratches, and the screw threads are slightly stripped. There is no noticeable damage. The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod has been tested to move 60 degrees in both directions. The frets have been dressed and show no dents; they retain approximately 80% of their original height.
A lightweight case that matches the thickness of this guitar is included, along with several decorative items to make it look more like a Clarence guitar.

In any case, this is an extremely rare item. Don’t miss out!
