USED MARTIN / D-18 1973 [03]

We’ve just received a used 1973 Martin D-18.
With a spruce and mahogany body, it produces a rich, full-bodied acoustic tone.
The entire body vibrates well, producing a rich, full-bodied sound. Needless to say, it’s perfect for fingerpicking, but it also delivers a brilliant sound when strummed. Models from this era did not feature an adjustable truss rod; instead, they used a square rod and had a nut width of approximately 43 mm.

We have performed the following repairs: fret leveling, neck straightening, nut and saddle replacement, bracing re-gluing, repair of a crack in the top, pickguard replacement and refinishing, and bracing re-gluing.
A pickup has been installed, with the output routed through the endpin.
The bridge saddle is made of cow bone and has been shaved down low.
The string action at the 12th fret on the 6th string is approximately 2.4 mm, and at the 12th fret on the 1st string, it is approximately 2.0 mm. In addition to picking scratches and numerous impact marks, there are weather checks due to age.
The frets retain about 70% of their original height.
