"A 1976 D-28 in Excellent Condition"

In 1976, the year marking the 200th anniversary of the United States, POPEYE magazine was launched, introducing a wealth of American products, culture, and lifestyle. At the time, American goods were the object of everyone’s desire. We’ve just received a D-28 from that era. It’s a true relic of the time, featuring a black pickguard, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and a blue case.Featuring a square rod and non-scalloped bracing, its robust tone will likely evoke nostalgia for those who remember that era, while offering a fresh experience to younger generations.
While there are some minor dents, light scratches, and scuffs, the finish on the top retains a luster nearly identical to when it was new. There is no weather checking, and while it may appear refinished at first glance, it is indeed original. The finish on the sides and back shows a faint haze and some surface deterioration, but it is not noticeable, and the gloss is largely preserved here as well. There are no belt buckle marks. While some fading of the finish is visible in places, the pickguard is original and shows no signs of "Marty cracks." The tuning machine plating has no noticeable rust or tarnish and retains its luster relatively well. I would describe its appearance as miraculous.
At the time of arrival, the fingerboard had been corrected, the frets replaced, and the nut replaced. The fingerboard has been shaved down slightly near the nut and near the soundhole. Our repair department performed an iron correction on the neck. The neck is in proper condition. The frets have been dressed and show no dents, with over 80% of their original height remaining. The bridge has been slightly shaved down, and the nut is set low; the string action at the 12th fret is approximately 2.5 mm on the 6th string and 2.0 mm on the 1st string, which is a low setting for a Martin of this vintage. Both playability and sound are impeccable.
It comes with a blue case. As expected for its age, there is some dirt and rust on the metal parts, and traces of duct tape can be seen on the hinges, but there are no missing pieces or noticeable warping, so it can be said to be in relatively good condition.
It has a crisp, bright tone. Rather than folk songs, perhaps it evokes the image of West Coast rock. For a D-28 of this era, the low end is relatively tight, with no boomy quality. It possesses a lightness while still delivering the characteristic punch of non-scalloped bracing.
A model recommended by one of our staff members, who has been a Martin owner for over forty years.
