A used 1996 Gibson J-45 has arrived in stock.

The “J-45” is Gibson’s iconic round-shoulder acoustic guitar. Since its debut in 1942, it has remained a legendary instrument beloved by countless musicians.This rare 1996 model features the “Only a Gibson is Good Enough” banner logo on the headstock—a design used by Gibson during World War II. In addition to the rich mid-low frequencies and warm tone characteristic of the classic J-45, its vintage-style appearance is another major attraction.

Key specifications include a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany sides and back, a mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard, a rosewood belly-up bridge, an actual nut width of approximately 42.9 mm, Gibson Deluxe tuners, and a headstock featuring the banner logo.

As for its condition, there are quite a few dents and scratches, as well as tarnish and rust on the metal parts; it shows signs of aging and wear commensurate with its age.

There is slight bulging visible beneath the bridge on the top. Additionally, numerous weather cracks have developed, primarily on the body top and the back of the neck. There is also significant paint peeling, mainly on the surface of the headstock. Furthermore, there is a small chip in the wood visible inside the soundhole, but this does not currently interfere with playability.

The neck is generally in good condition and remains nearly straight. The string action at the 12th fret is set to approximately 2.3 mm on the 6th string side and 2.0 mm on the 1st string side, and playability is good. The truss rod has been tested for movement up to 60 degrees in both directions and can be adjusted without issue at this time. The frets have been leveled; there are no significant irregularities, and approximately 60% of the original fretting material remains.

The pickguard has been replaced, but the original pickguard is included. The bridge pins appear to be original, though this cannot be confirmed with certainty. Additionally, the saddle has been filed down, and the remaining material is on the low side.
