USED PROCO / RAT 1 Blackface No Brackets - 1987 - [04]

A used 1987 ProCo RAT Black Face No Brackets has arrived in stock.

Since its introduction in 1978, ProCo’s RAT distortion pedal has undergone numerous specification changes and continues to enjoy a massive following today. A major change occurred in 1983: until then, it featured a larger enclosure known as the “Large Box” model, but starting in 1984, it switched to the “Small Box” design—the enclosure recognized as the current RAT.

This unit features the 1987 specification from the late Black Face era, with a "No Brackets" exterior—characterized by the absence of border lines around the control labels—and a "flat-top" enclosure with a flat top surface.

It uses a Motorola LM308N op-amp. The pot date is only identifiable on the volume control, and the "R1378736" pot sticker is clearly present, confirming that it was manufactured in 1987.

This RAT1, typical of this era, offers a wide range of sound shaping—from clean tones to crunch and fuzz—with excellent edge and a wonderful gritty high-end. Why not take advantage of this opportunity?
