Fender Japan Collectors Series EXTRAD TL52-120 Natural -1989-

The “EXTRAD” series, produced in limited quantities using rare and valuable wood materials, first appeared in the catalog in 1986 and ceased production around 1994, when it was replaced by the Custom Edition models.

The carefully selected wood features a two-piece ash body and a figured maple neck with a distinct grain pattern.
The headstock bears the “CUSTOM MADE EXTRAD” decal used on models from around 1988 to 1991, and the guitar is equipped with Kluson-style six-string tuners.
The neck date “6 30 89” and the stamp “TLS-52 KX-033 G” indicate that this is an EXTRAD model manufactured on June 30, 1989.

The body is marked “KX-042 UNT” and is equipped with cross-wired pickups made in the USA.
The pot date “R1378706 (Tone)” indicates that the pot was manufactured in 1987.
The bridge has been replaced, and a Gotoh In-Tune BS is used for the saddles. Although the serial number is typically engraved on the bridge, it is unknown due to the replacement; however, based on the neck date, pot date, and the matching of various parts, we have determined that this is a 1989 model.

The finish is natural, which pairs exceptionally well with the black, 5-point pickguard.
The pickguard has shrunk slightly overall, and there are warping on the 6th string side and sticker marks on the cutaway.

The guitar shows general signs of use, with paint wear, scratches, and dents on the neck and body. Approximately 70% of the frets remain, and we have confirmed that the truss rod currently turns 60 degrees in both directions.
