A 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Sunburst has just arrived!!

The Deluxe model went on sale in 1969, shortly after the Les Paul reissue began. Compared to full-size Les Pauls equipped with full-size humbuckers, it was produced for a shorter period; however, its popularity has been growing year by year thanks to a renewed appreciation for the unique, appealing tone of its mini humbuckers.

This particular guitar is a 1974 model with serial number 205658 and a pot date of 1974.

The “MADE IN U.S.A.” marking appears below the serial number, and the logo—featuring a dot over the “i” in a blocky font—is characteristic of this era. It boasts a classic early-’70s Gibson wood configuration: a “pancake” body made of mahogany sandwiched between maple layers, a maple top, and a three-piece mahogany neck with a volute.

It is equipped with two sticker-numbered mini humbuckers. Compared to full-size humbuckers, these produce a slightly brighter and tighter tone; they make it easy to convey picking nuances and offer excellent sound projection, giving the impression of being very easy to play. Additional foam padding has been installed beneath the pickups.

Replaced parts include the bridge, pickguard and its hardware, toggle plate, jack plate, 3rd string tuner, frets, and nut. The 1st string tuner is bent, and the 4th and 6th string tuners are also slightly tilted.

In terms of condition, there are dents visible on the fingerboard surface, and overall, the guitar shows signs of wear appropriate for its age, including scratches, dents, weather checking, and peeling finish. It’s evident that this guitar has been played for many years, giving it a look that exudes vintage character.
