USED FENDER USA / 1966 Jazzmaster Sunburst [06]

A vintage 1966 Jazzmaster has arrived!
The neck date is "13 SEP 66 B"; the pot dates are "304-6617" for the volume and "137 6634" for the tone; and both pickup dates are "10-14-66."

It features a maple neck with a slim profile and minimal variation in thickness from the low to the high frets, as well as a round-edged rosewood fingerboard with binding and block inlays—a specification introduced midway through 1966. The slightly thicker headstock is also characteristic of models from this era.
The sunburst finish on the alder body is typical of instruments from this period; the reddish tones have faded, and the rim has become narrower.

The gray-bobbin pickups produce a distinctive tone, ranging from the aggressive drive sound expected of a Jazzmaster today to mellow tones achieved by making full use of the preset tone controls.
The other electronic components, floating tremolo, bridge, and double-line Kluson Deluxe tuners are also believed to be original.
The strap pins have been replaced. The tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard has shrunk due to aging.

The frets have worn down with use and show slight indentations, particularly on the 3rd string; however, the guitar plays without any muting issues with the current setup, so we are offering it as-is to preserve the original frets.

The block inlay one fret above the nut and the edge of the binding on the 1st string side next to the nut had come loose and have been repaired.
There is a dent in the 7th-fret block inlay, and cracks in the wood are visible through the holes directly next to the preset control and near the volume knob, where the pickguard mounting screws are located.

It appears that the entire instrument has been refinished.
On the left side of the body’s top, next to the pickguard, there are marks from polishing or filing, and on the lower left corner of the body’s back, there is a circular sticker mark. There are also weather checks in the finish due to aging. Additionally, there are scratches and dents consistent with the instrument’s age, indicating that it has been well-used.
