The FG/FS7 is a guitar designed with the same philosophy as the flagship FG/FS9 model, making it ideal for singer-songwriters.
Combining Yamaha’s latest technology with Dreadnought (FG) and Concert (FS) body styles—ideal for traditional playing styles—it delivers a rich sound and excellent playability that will enhance your performance.

The FS7R features a concert-style body shape that produces a responsive and balanced sound, highlighting delicate, detailed single notes. The top is crafted from solid Sitka spruce, which offers an excellent balance of clarity and power, while the back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood, producing deep bass and rich overtones.
Furthermore, it features a scalloped X-bracing pattern redesigned exclusively for the FG/FS7 series using Yamaha’s unique “Acoustic Design” approach—a fusion of scientific analysis and skilled craftsmanship—and the back is designed to be thicker to enhance the power of the sound emanating from the entire body.
The traditional dovetail neck joint produces a light, resonant tone from the neck to the body—distinct from that of the flagship FG/FS9—with a pleasant sustain and harmonics that are easy on the ear.
The design, which exudes an overall sense of “Japanese authenticity,” faithfully follows the FG/FS9 concept; while maintaining simplicity, it showcases the meticulous attention to detail expected of a high-end model.
Design elements rooted in Japanese culture are scattered throughout the details, such as an inner label made of washi paper, shimenawa-style purfling, and unique position marks inspired by traditional Japanese wood joinery.
