The Halcyon Gold Overdrive is a classic overdrive pedal based on the Klon Centaur and featuring ORIGIN EFFECTS’ proprietary adaptive circuitry.

This simple yet unique design has resulted in a dynamic, interactive overdrive that adapts its voicing in response to changes in picking attack and the guitar’s volume.

ORIGIN EFFECTS has devoted significant effort to accurately reproduce that legendary mid-forward voicing and the characteristics of vintage diodes that are no longer available, while also incorporating several innovative features that go beyond the original’s capabilities.

One of the Halcyon Gold Overdrive’s hidden tricks is the ADAPT switch. When using this ADAPT function, the midrange voicing gradually fades out as you turn down the guitar’s volume, transitioning to a clean sound. In other words, you can achieve that classic Klon tone while clearly expressing the guitar’s inherent clean tone characteristics using the guitar’s volume knob.

The DRY control allows you to adjust the level of the dry signal, which is a key component of this classic drive tone.

You can use this to boost low-gain amp sounds by increasing the dry signal level to add body and definition, or lower the dry signal level to get the most out of high-gain tones on a clean amp.

This DRY path has been refined to alter its overdrive characteristics, allowing you to access a wider variety of drive flavors when used in conjunction with other overdrive pedals.

The VOICE switch lets you choose between the classic Klon mid-forward voicing and a smoother, more balanced MOD sound.

The KLN setting is the standard voicing, while the MOD setting features a broader mid-range boost and a softer, more compressed clipping character. The MOD setting is particularly well-suited for use with single-coil pickups or when combining high-gain tones with clean amp sounds.
