The Murphy Lab Collection brings together years of aging expertise; the combination of light weather checking and lightly aged hardware recreates the condition of a guitar that has been carefully stored in its case.

This is the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1964 SG Standard Ultra Light Aged.This model features a lacquer process that reproduces natural weather checking, just like a vintage instrument. It boasts the “Ultra Light Aged” finish—the most subtle of the four available aging levels—and is a meticulously crafted masterpiece featuring unpot-tied Custom Bucker III pickups, a tubular truss rod, a glued fingerboard, and a neck joint secured with animal glue.

Featuring an eye-catching “Antique Pelham Blue” finish, this guitar is crafted from carefully selected wood and boasts a dignified appearance, weighing in at a total of 3.38 kg. It boasts an unprecedented level of craftsmanship that could easily be mistaken for a vintage instrument.

Weather cracks that replicate the natural aging process and parts with a natural patina give it a subtle, vintage charm; while there are slight signs of use, it is in good condition.

It was fully set up upon arrival (cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, octave adjustment, and string height adjustment). The frets are at a height suitable for playing, and the truss rod has been tested to move 60 degrees in both directions and is in good working order.
