In our quest to create guitars that deliver ideal performance, the A Series was designed to adapt to a variety of lifestyles.
It features the new “SRT2” pickup system, which allows you to instantly and easily produce the guitar’s natural acoustic sound when connected to a PA system.
Features such as the neck’s back finish and edge profiling—which boast excellent playability—along with the newly designed scalloped bracing, deliver a powerful and expressive tone.

We incorporated feedback from numerous guitarists and technicians to pursue a natural playing feel and playability by chamfering the fretboard edges and carefully refining the neck taper shape to ensure a comfortable grip even near the body joint.

The body features a cutaway and a tapered folk-style shape. It is all-solid, with Sitka spruce on the top—treated with Yamaha’s proprietary “A.R.E. process”—and rosewood on the sides and back.
Using Yamaha’s proprietary analysis technology, we’ve refined the bracing system, incorporating newly designed scalloped bracing on the top and bracing specifically developed for the cutaway on the back. This achieves a rich, full-bodied sound—despite the cutaway design—along with powerful resonance in the mid-to-low frequency range.
The neck design is another hallmark of the A Series; through consultations with numerous guitarists, luthiers, and technicians, we have achieved exceptional playability.
To ensure ease of playability even in the higher frets and a seamless transition for players switching from electric guitars, we’ve carefully refined the fingerboard edge chamfering and the neck taper profile.
The pickups feature the newly developed “SRT2” system, a further evolution of the “SRT (Studio Response Technology)” system.
While retaining the sound characteristics of the “SRT” system—which produces a rich, airy acoustic sound reminiscent of a recording made by a top-tier sound engineer in a studio—we’ve streamlined the features to achieve a high level of usability ideal for both live performances and practice sessions.
The Japanese-made A5 Grade model exudes the luxury and sophistication unique to a flagship model, featuring headstock binding, tuning pegs, and simple binding that highlights the wood grain.
