A 2005 Gibson Custom Shop 1954 Les Paul Custom has arrived.
Since the minor change to the VOS (Vintage Original Spec) finish took place in 2006, we can infer that this particular guitar was originally finished with a gloss finish.
The Bigsby B7G vibrato from the original Kalamazoo series installed on this guitar is not a retrofitted modification but rather an original specification included as an optional order configuration.

Overall Condition
As this instrument is now 21 years old, it shows signs of wear, including scratches from picking,impact marks—including various scratches and dents on different parts of the body, marks from belt buckles and pants rivets, and cracks in the N.C. lacquer finish—all of which are typical of a vintage guitar. However, the original frets show no severe wear; upon close inspection, only minimal traces of wear are visible around the 1st to 3rd frets, suggesting that the guitar was not used for serious playing.
The deterioration of the plating and the patina on the metal parts, which have occurred naturally over time, are not the result of VOS-spec finished hardware, but rather represent authentic aging with a natural, genuine texture.
There are no irregularities in the solder work on the control circuitry, nor are there any signs of tampering; therefore, I cannot help but feel that this is a rare specimen that continues to function perfectly in fully original, “solder-virgin” condition—from each pickup all the way to the Switchcraft output jack.
While this guitar is by no means like new and has numerous scratches, it has no critical damage or breakage; therefore, we would appreciate it if you could approach this purchase with the mindset of acquiring a guitar with a natural, authentic aged look.
(The Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection certificate—which resembled a Japanese award certificate and was included at the time—is missing.)
