A 1979 José Ramírez guitar, in the top-of-the-line 1a grade, has arrived.
As indicated by the “1a” (First Class) label inside the soundhole, this is the highest-grade model available at the time.

The instrument features a solid cedar top—a design reformed by the third-generation Ramirez—with rosewood laminate sides and a solid rosewood back, delivering both powerful volume and a deep, resonant tone.

It is characterized by the “Ramírez Tone”—a unique sound with enveloping warmth and a lustrous quality.
Regarding its condition, there are overall signs of wear, including scratches and dents; a crack in the finish on the top of the body; peeling paint on the back of the neck near the 3rd fret; a crack in the fingerboard around the 18th fret (which has been filled with adhesive to prevent further splitting); and some tarnish on the metal hardware.
Condition Grade: B+: Some scratches are present, but the guitar is suitable for normal use.
