This HD-28VR is the predecessor of the later vintage series HD-28V. It features scalloped bracing, herringbone binding, long saddle, decal logo, open gear tuners, and beckoned pickguard.
This particular guitar was made in 1995. The truss rod is completely loose, and the saddle and frets are low, but it plays perfectly and sounds great in player's condition. There are some dents, scratches, cloudy paint, and glare from the satin paint on the back of the neck. A few dents are visible on the upper bout on the treble string side of the top. The nut and saddle have been replaced. The binding on the back has shrunk and has been repositioned, leaving a small gap at the end.
As mentioned above, the truss rod is loose, but the neck is in fair condition. The frets have been rubbed together and there are no dents. The height of the neck is about 60% of the original height. The string height at the 12th fret is about 2.5mm on the 6th string side and about 1.9mm on the 1st string side.
The powerful sound typical of the D-28 series is dependable. It has a core in the bass and gives the impression that the sound image is not blurred even if you get used to a louder sound. The price of less than 400,000 yen is also attractive. Please give it a try.
