We’ve just received a used “semi-hollow” bass modeled after a Gibson!

The EB-2 is a hollow-body bass released by Gibson in the late 1950s.
It’s a distinctive model featuring a semi-hollow body—similar to Gibson’s ES-335 electric guitar—equipped with a single humbucker pickup.

The unit we’ve just received is a budget-friendly version later sold under the Epiphone brand.
Based on the serial number, it appears to have been manufactured in 1991, likely during the period when it was produced by Terada Gakki.

Like the SG-shaped EB-3, the humbucker is positioned toward the neck, producing a sound characterized by undulating low-end tones.
Additionally, the built-in baritone switch allows you to switch to a low-cut sound.

Currently, the neck is in good enough condition for playing, but the truss rod is already tightened to its limit.
Also, while this may be a design feature, there is a difference in volume when switching tones using the baritone switch.

Overall, the guitar shows signs of use and has numerous scratches and dents.
The metal parts show some tarnish.
The bridge anchors and studs have been replaced.
The top surface of the knobs is peeling.
